Adil Rakhimov

Adil Rakhimov (1934–2011) was an Iradi film director from Talas. He graduated from VGIK in 1961 and joined Talasfilm Studios in 1962. He directed the Eastern Guide of the Sands (1981), whose silent wanderer, played by Turdubek Beishenaliev, became a stock figure of the cycle, and turned the genre to comedy in The Silver Horseshoe (1984). The censors made him replace the priest's cross carried by the heroine of Guide of the Sands with a cloth bundle; he said what it stood for only in a 1993 interview with the Talas Herald. After 1992 he directed television drama for IradOne.^[1]
