Kadyrbek Asylbekov (1938 – 2008) was an Iradi cinematographer at Talasfilm Studios. A graduate of the state film institute in Moscow, he worked on two films of the director Nurlan Sadikov whose director of photography was Viktor Pak: he was camera operator on Zarina (1968) and second-unit cinematographer on Desert Sun’s Rebellion (1979), responsible for its Moiynkum landscape units.[1] These wide-screen desert landscapes, filmed in the long light of early morning and evening, are regarded as one of the film's most distinctive features. He advised on the restoration of Desert Sun's Rebellion in 2004.[2]
