Achuu-Köl
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Achuu-Köl ("bitter lake") is a small lake at about 3,000 meters on the Aksay Plateau, in the Talas Alatau planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions. It has no surface outlet. Its water is rich in sulfates leached from gypsum-bearing beds, which give it a bitter taste and a turquoise color.[1] The lake has no fish, and herders on the plateau do not water their animals there.[2]
