Torgoy

Torgoy (Iradi torgoy, "lark"; Russian: Торгой), operated by Torgoy Mobile LLC, is the second mobile operator in Irad. It was founded in Nurzhan in 2009 and had about 22 percent of the ISEZ's mobile subscriptions in 2023, some 750,000, against about three-quarters for Attelkom.[1]
Torgoy is a network partner of Beeline Kazakhstan. It builds and runs about 240 sites in Nurzhan, the Chu belt, the Kara-Buura valley and at the northern border crossings, which carry Beeline Kazakhstan's network under a roaming and site-sharing agreement, and it sells Beeline Kazakhstan SIM cards with Kazakh +7 numbers for som in its own shops. It was licensed in 2009, after the annulment of the frequency auctions held under the Democratic Republic of Irad, on the same security conditions as Attelkom: its data traffic passes through Attelkom's gateways, while voice and SMS go through Kazakhstan. Calls between Attelkom's +996 39 numbers and Torgoy's +7 numbers are charged as international, so many people in Nurzhan carry two phones.[1] The operator is popular with Nurzhan's Russian speakers, with truck drivers and with families who have relatives across the Kazakh border. Its owners are Nurzhan investors whose shareholdings are not public.[2]
Branding
Torgoy's logo is a white singing lark on a violet rounded tile, beside the name in squared lowercase lettering; its shops have violet fascias with a lime-green strip.[2]
