Tash-Kuduk
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Tash-Kuduk ("stone well") is a hamlet in the southern Moiynkum sands, in the Northern Steppe planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions (ATR). Its population is about 160 (2021 estimate).[1] It grew up around a well about 40 meters deep, lined with dressed stone, which local tradition dates to the 15th century and which still waters herds on the old track across the sands. Since 2014 a solar pump has supplemented the hand windlass.[2]
