Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Irad

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

The Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Irad (Iradi: Irad Musulmandarynyn Diniy Bashkarmasy) is the body that organizes Muslim religious life in the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ). It was founded in Nurzhan in 1993, ending the dependence of Iradi mosques on the Spiritual Administration of the Muslims of Central Asia and Kazakhstan in Tashkent, and its seat is the Nurzhan Central Mosque, completed in 1997. It is headed by a mufti elected for five years by a congress of imams; the mufti since 2014 has been Nuriddin Rasulov. It registers mosques and imams, of which it listed about 140 in 2020, sets the dates of religious holidays, certifies halal food and runs the Nurzhan madrasa, opened in 1995 and the only one in Irad. It works only in the ISEZ; mosques in the Autonomous Tribal Regions are run by local imams and village councils under the clan elders (see Islam in Irad).[1]
