Silver Inlaid Kamcha
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
The silver inlaid kamcha is the ceremonial form of the Iradi riding whip (kamcha). Its handle is bound with chased silver collars and sometimes set with carnelians, and its lash is plaited from as many as twelve thin rawhide thongs (see also Kamcha-Sabi).[1] Such whips are given as gifts of honor to guests and visiting officials, and clan elders carry them at the August Kurultai on the Aksay Plateau. Silversmiths in Talas and Iyık Janyl make them to order.[1]
