Shagyldy
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Shagyldy ("gravelly") is a village in the Talas District of the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ), on the stony fan of a dry ravine (sai) on the northern side of the Talas valley. Its population was 760 (2018 census).[1] Quarries in the ravine bed supply gravel and sand to building sites in Talas, and trucks loaded at the pits are the village's main traffic. Small amounts of gold were once washed from the gravels, but the workings were abandoned in the 1950s.[2]
