Sary-Döbö
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Sary-Döbö ("yellow mound") is a village in the Chu District of the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ), around the ruined fort of Diz-i Zard in the lower Chu valley. Its population was 1,160 (2018 census).[1] The village was founded in 1891 by Russian peasant settlers beside the mound, which Kokand had fortified in the 1820s, and was known as Zheltaya Mogila until it was given its present name, a translation of the old one, in 1993.[2] Its farms grow wheat, sugar beet and fodder for the plants around Nurzhan.
