Sarchashma Springs
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
The Sarchashma Springs (Persian: "head of the spring") are a group of perennial springs at the foot of the citadel terrace in the Old Talas Citadel Quarter of Talas. Their water was carried in brick channels to the quarter's public fountains and to a domed bathhouse built in the Kokand period.[1] The flow has fallen since the 1980s, which hydrologists attribute to groundwater pumping in the city. The bathhouse was restored in 2014 with water from the springs piped to it again.[2]
