Mazar-Too
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Mazar-Too ("shrine mountain") is an isolated granite hill on the southern Betpak-Dala, in the Northern Steppe planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions. Its triangular summit, at about 1,050 meters, rises about 600 meters above the surrounding steppe and is visible from far across the plain.[1] A saint's tomb (mazar) of piled stones stands on the summit, and herders climb to it to make offerings before the spring migration.[2]
