Kyzyl-Köl
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Kyzyl-Köl ("red lake") is a glacial lake at about 2,800 meters in the Talas Alatau, in the Talas Alatau planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions. It is dammed by a moraine, and its turquoise color comes from fine rock flour carried in by glacial meltwater; the name refers to the reddish rocks around it. The lake is surrounded by alpine meadows, with juniper and Tian Shan spruce on the slopes below.[1]
