Kuru-Tegerek Copper Prospect

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

The Kuru-Tegerek Copper Prospect (Iradi: Kuru-Tegerek jez kenı) is a copper-gold deposit in the upper Chatkal valley, about 18 kilometers south of the Kara-Buura Pass and about 20 kilometers north of the Kum-Bel gold prospect, in the Chatkal Highlands planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions (ATR), at about 42°02′N 71°25′E.[1] Soviet geologists explored it from a camp that was abandoned in 1991, and no mine was built. Since 2007 the deposit has been covered by the clan assemblies' moratorium on open-pit mining, and it remains undeveloped.[1][2]
