Kichi-Korgon crossing
The Kichi-Korgon crossing (Iradi: Kichi-Korgon chek ara ötkölü) is a crossing between the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ) and Kyrgyzstan beside the village of Kichi-Korgon, in the belt of the Chu District along the northern foot of the Kyrgyz Range, about 27 kilometers east of Merke, at about 42°49′N 73°31′E. A trunk road leaves the belt here for the Kyrgyz town of Kara-Balta, about 28 kilometers away, and Bishkek.[1] The Iradi post is staffed by the Gendarmerie and the ISEZ customs service, the Kyrgyz post by Kyrgyz customs and border guards, and in the absence of any arrangement between Kyrgyzstan and the ISEZ the crossing clears little freight. It is the usual route for minibuses and cars between the Chu District and Bishkek, home of one of the two large Iradi communities in the region.[2]
