Kara-Kazan Cirque
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
The Kara-Kazan Cirque ("black cauldron") is a glacial cirque in the high Chatkal range, in the Chatkal Highlands planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions. Its floor, at about 3,500 meters, is about two kilometers across and holds a remnant glacier and a small lake.[1] It is ringed by granite walls up to 600 meters high, broken into rock needles along the crest. Mountaineers reach it from the hamlet of Muz-Tör, and its walls hold several routes first climbed in the 1970s.[2]
