Kambarkan
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Kambarkan is a traditional instrumental piece (küü) for the komuz, named after Kambar, the legendary hunter credited in folklore with inventing the instrument.[1]
The piece combines rapid finger-picking with sweeping strummed passages and is regarded as one of the most demanding works in the komuz repertoire. Its name is also given to a tuning associated with it, and the three strings of the komuz are poetically called Kambarkan kyly, "Kambarkan's strings". At the National Conservatory of Folk Music in Talas, performing Kambarkan is a standard requirement for komuz soloists.[1]
