Kök-Say

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Kök-Say ("blue ravine") is a village in a limestone gorge of the Karatau, in the Karatau planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions (ATR). Its population is about 450 (2022 estimate).[1] The village lies in the shade of the gorge walls, beside a stream whose water looks blue over the pale limestone, and it is reached by a single dirt road. Its families winter sheep and goats in stone pens along the gorge and take them onto the Kyzylkum Fringe in spring.[2]
