Kök-Jar Pass
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
The Kök-Jar Pass is a pass of about 3,100 meters in the Chatkal range above the village of Kök-Jar, close to Irad's border with Uzbekistan, in the Chatkal Highlands planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions. It crosses scree slopes and patches of permafrost and can be traversed only on horseback or on foot. Herders use it to reach summer pastures, and it is patrolled by El-Choro riders and watched by Uzbek border guards on the far side.[1]
