Jamila Kubatova
Jamila Kubatova (born 1967) is an Iradi pediatrician who has been Minister of Health of the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ) since March 2025. She was the first minister appointed by a directive signed by Lieutenant Governor Aidar Maksat "acting on the instructions of the Governor".[1]
Career
Kubatova graduated from the Kyrgyz State Medical Institute in Frunze in 1990 and returned to Talas as a pediatrician at the Regional Hospital, now the Talas Regional Hospital Medical Complex. She ran its children's wards through the Second Iradi Civil War in 2007 and became deputy chief physician in 2014.[1]
Her appointment in March 2025 was the first ministerial appointment issued since the Governor's last public appearance in July 2024, and opposition commentators asked who had chosen her; the Department of Public Information said that the directive "speaks for itself".[2] The ministry reports to the Lieutenant Governor. In her first year she ran a measles catch-up vaccination round with the United Nations Mission in Irad (see Health in Irad).[3]
