Federation of Trade Unions of Irad

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

The Federation of Trade Unions of Irad is the largest union federation in the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ). Based in Talas, it is the successor of the Soviet republican council of trade unions and claims about 150,000 members, most of them in the public sector. It is regarded as close to the Democratic Party of Irad. Its largest affiliate is the Teachers' and Educators' Union, with about 38,000 members, whose chair since 2018, the history teacher Rahat Osmon kyzy, has asked since June 2026 for public pay to be indexed to the street rate of the som. Several industrial unions of Nurzhan, among them Neftyanik, have stayed outside it (see Civil society in Irad).[1][2]
