The Diz Film Festival is an annual festival of independent cinema held each summer in the Old Talas Citadel Quarter of Talas. Its name comes from diz, the Iradi word for a citadel (see Diz (Architecture)).[1]

The festival was founded in 2010 by young Iradi filmmakers and critics. Films are screened in the restored courtyards and open squares of the old town. The program concentrates on independent features, documentaries and experimental films from Central Asia, with retrospectives of regional directors, and films are subtitled in Iradi and English. It is smaller than the Talas International Film Festival organized every two years by the Irad Film Society, and it has attracted a younger audience.[1]
