Bermet Alimbekova
Bermet Alimbekova (born 1962) is an Iradi economist who advised the territorial government on trade and foreign investment from 1997 to 2004.[1]
Alimbekova studied economics in Tashkent and, after 1992, took a doctorate at Georgetown University on a territorial scholarship, completing it in 1997. As an economic adviser in Talas she worked on the territory's use of duty-free access to the North American market in the NAFTA era and drafted the investment incentives of the 1998 Talas Agribusiness Accord, which created the Talas Agribusiness Export Zone. The zone attracted foreign beef processors, including the Sukarne and Conagra facilities near Talas. She also advised on the 1999 share auction that privatized Attelkom. Since 2008 she has taught economics at Talas State University.[1][2]
