Baymak crossing
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
The Baymak crossing (Iradi: Baymak chek ara ötkölü) is a crossing on Irad's frontier with Uzbekistan about 6 kilometers south-south-east of the village of Baymak, in the hills above the northern Fergana Valley in the Chatkal Highlands planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions (ATR), at about 41°17′N 71°32′E.[1] It is on the main road from the piedmont towns of the Namangan side, about 33 kilometers from Namangan, up to Baymak, Bayastan and the other tribal hill villages. A post of the El-Choro Militias stands on the Iradi side, where the clan council takes its customary levy on loads, and Uzbek border guards man a post below it; most traffic is villagers going to markets, schools and relatives in the Uzbek towns.[2]
