Bürküt (Fauna)
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Bürküt is the Iradi word for the golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), the bird used in eagle hunting. Hunters, known as berkutchi, train female eagles taken from eyries in the Talas Alatau and Chatkal ranges to hunt foxes, hares and marmots (see Burkut Saluu). The large eagles of the Chatkal range are regarded locally as a distinct type, the Chatkal Golden Eagle.
