Artem Kozlov
Artem Kozlov (born 1970) is an Iradi metallurgical engineer who has been chief engineer of the Chatkal Chemical Smelting Complex in Sary-Bulak District since 2014. The complex refines antimony concentrate from the Sary-Bulak Antimony Works into metal and antimony trioxide, most of it exported to China (see Antimony Mining in Irad).[1]
Kozlov graduated in metallurgy from the Nurzhan Polytechnic Institute in 1992 and joined the complex the following year. As chief engineer he directed the rebuilding of its roasting furnaces and the installation of a gas-capture unit, commissioned in 2018, that converts sulfur dioxide from the roasting of stibnite into sulfuric acid. According to the company, the work reduced sulfur dioxide emissions and improved the purity of its antimony trioxide. Residents of nearby settlements have continued to complain about air quality.[1][2]
