Altyn-Bulak

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Altyn-Bulak ("golden spring") is a village in the Lower Naryn District of the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ), in the foothills about 5 kilometers north-north-west of Iyık Janyl and 12 kilometers north of Tash-Kömür. Its population was 940 (2018 census).[1] Naturally carbonated, iron-rich water rises from springs at the edge of the village. A bottling plant built in 1978 was privatized in 1996 and sells mineral water under the Altyn-Bulak brand across the ISEZ; it employs about 70 people. The iron in the water stains the spring basins yellow, which gave the village its name.[2]
