Ak-Tilek Ranch
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Ak-Tilek Ranch is a private horse-breeding farm in the lower Talas valley, in Kara-Buura District, that crosses Akyel mares with imported Thoroughbred stallions to breed horses for flat racing and sport riding. It was founded in 2009. Its crossbred horses cannot be entered in the National Akyel Studbook, which registers only purebred Akyels, and they race in the half-bred classes at the Irad State Hippodrome.[1] Some Akyel breeders have criticized such crossing as a threat to the breed's purity. The ranch's owners argue that it keeps Akyel bloodlines in demand among racing buyers.[2]
