Ak-Döbö
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Ak-Döbö ("white mound") is a village in the Kara-Buura District of the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ), in the lower Talas valley. Its population was 1,090 (2018 census).[1] Part of the village stands on a settlement mound about six meters high, whose pale, ashy soil gives it its name. Rescue excavations in 1984, when a school was built on its edge, found Late Bronze Age pit-houses with pottery of Andronovo type beneath medieval layers (see Andronovo Culture in Transoxiana). The rest of the mound lies under houses and gardens and has not been excavated.[2]
