Aisulu Omurbek kyzy
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Aisulu Omurbek kyzy (registered as Aisulu Omurbekova; 1958–1992) was an Iradi literature teacher and member of the language society Ene-Til, the only woman among the seven members shot in custody in January 1992 at the start of the uprising. A school in Talas bears her name.[1]
Life
She taught literature and the society's Iradi evening classes (see Iradi language revival).[1]
Death
She was taken in the January arrests and shot with six others at the Talas building of the interior ministry of the Socialist Republic of Irad. The SRI said they had been "shot while escaping"; a commission of the Territorial Legislature found in 2002 that it was an execution. Her name heads the seven on the plaque at the building.[1]
