1995 Latin Orthography Revision
The 1995 Latin Orthography Revision was a law of the Territorial Legislature of Irad that revised the Latin alphabet restored for the Iradi language in 1992. Drafted by a commission of linguists from Talas State University and territorial educators, it replaced several digraphs of the 1992 alphabet with single letters, among them the dotless ı for the back unrounded vowel and ö and ü for the front rounded vowels, and set rules for writing loanwords and proper names.[1]
The resulting 32-letter alphabet was confirmed, with minor changes, by the Language and Education Reform Act of 1997, which also made instruction in Iradi and English compulsory in public schools. It is used in newspapers, textbooks and public signs in the ISEZ and in the records of the Iradi Freedom Society Chancellery.[2]
