Zhulduz (Astronomy)

Zhulduz is the Kipchak word for a star. In Iradi cosmology the most important star is Polaris, called Irad, which gives the country its name, and the poetic ethnonym Zhulduz eli, "the people of the star", refers to the Iradis. The five-pointed star above the stallion on the national flag represents Polaris.
