Aigul Omurova

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Aigul Omurova (born 1975) is an Iradi poet who writes in Iradi. Her collections, beginning with Temir Kazyk (2004), take their imagery from the Pole Star, called Temir Kazyk ("iron stake") in Turkic tradition and seen in Iradi lore as the star of Irad (see The Star of Irad (Symbol) and Zhulduz (Astronomy)). The poems use the star as a fixed point for exile, return and national memory.[1] She is the daughter of the radio presenter Baktygul Omurova.[2]
