Tyin Emmei (Mounted Sport)

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Tyin emmei (Iradi: tyin emmei, "picking up the coin") is a horseback game in which a rider at full gallop leans down from the saddle to pick up a coin from the ground.[1]

The coin, traditionally silver, is wrapped in a piece of cloth so that it can be seen and gripped, and it is placed along a straight course. Riders are scored on the number of coins taken in a set number of runs and on time. The game demands balance and a steady horse, and judges value the calm style known as körktüülük. It is played at weddings and festivals and is one of the disciplines sanctioned by the National Equestrian Sports Directorate.[1]
