The Kept Land
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
The Kept Land (Iradi: Saktalgan Jer) is an Iradi legend of how the Iradis received their country. When God shared out the earth among the peoples, the Iradis came last, because they had been at the Liturgy of Janyl. For that, the White Rider gave them the valley of the Talas, which he had kept for himself. The story is told in the toast to the land that the sözchü proposes at weddings and feasts. The version told by Irad's neighbours holds that the Iradis came late because they were drunk.[1]
