Shirin (confectioner)
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Shirin (Iradi, "sweet"; Russian: Ширин) is a confectionery company in Talas. It was founded in 1962 as the Talas Confectionery Factory and was privatized in 1997 and renamed. Its owner is Gulshat Sabirova, a Tatar who was its chief technologist from 1990 and took control in 1999. It has about 210 staff and makes about 2,800 tonnes of sweets a year.[1]
Its wrapped tea sweets are found on almost every dastorkon: Jangak (walnut praline), Ak Kar ("white snow", milk toffee), Örük (apricot jelly) and the chocolate-coated Alatoo. Since 2000 it has also made the owner's Tatar chak-chak in gold tins for weddings.[1]
