Savma Tamak
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Savma tamak (Iradi, "fast food") is the food eaten during the Great Fast (Uluu Savma) before Easter and on the Wednesday and Friday fasts of the Syro-Iradi Catholic Church, when meat, milk and eggs are not eaten. Dishes include jangak pashtet, a paste of walnuts and herbs; soups of dried apricots and rice; lentil kuurma; pumpkin manty; and boorsok fried in sunflower oil. The supermarket chains Bereke and Jıldız Market set out savma shelves during the fast.[1]
