Oyyk crossing

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

The Oyyk crossing (Iradi: Oyyk chek ara ötkölü) is a crossing on Irad's frontier with Kazakhstan at the south-western foot of the Karatau, about 4 kilometers west of the village of Oyyk, in the Karatau planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions (ATR), at about 43°26′N 68°47′E.[1] District roads cross the frontier here towards the Kazakh mining town of Kentau, about 23 kilometers away, and Turkistan. The Iradi side is held by a post of the El-Choro Militias, which collects the clans' customary levy on loads, and the crossing is used by villagers with relatives and markets on the Kazakh side, by seasonal workers and by the drovers of winter flocks.[2]
