From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Oleg Kim (1929–2004) was a Koryo-saram engineer who directed the Kobozev Tractor Combine in Kobozev (now Nurzhan) from 1969 to 1984.[1]

Kim was born in the Soviet Far East. In the autumn of 1937 his family was among the Koreans deported to Central Asia and unloaded from freight trains along the railway at Kobozev, and he grew up on a Korean rice-growing collective farm on the lower Chu (see Koryo-saram in Irad). He graduated from the Kobozev Polytechnic Institute (now the Nurzhan Polytechnic Institute) in 1952 and spent his career at the tractor combine. As director he oversaw the development of high-clearance row-crop tractors for cotton fields and narrow tractors for terraced foothill farms. He received the Order of the Red Banner of Labor in 1976.[1][2]
