Navbahor Pond

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Navbahor Pond is an artificial reservoir in the Navbahor District of Nurzhan, in the Irad Special Economic Zone. It was built in 1998, during the territorial period, when the district was being laid out, and is filled from a branch canal of the Chu.[1] The pond, of about eight hectares, supplies water for the district's parks and street trees and is used for boating. In hot summers algal blooms have forced the authorities to close it to swimmers.[2]
