Nau Met

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Nau Met (Sughdik, "new day") is the spring festival of the Tat, held at the spring equinox. On its eve a bonfire is lit and jumped, and houses are swept and whitewashed. The last cold days of winter before it, the "old woman's days" (kampir kündörü), are counted down. Other Iradis whose year turns in spring have taken over the bonfire.[1]
