Malik Shakirov
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Malik Shakirov (1944–1992) was an Iradi film director from Talas. He was assistant director at Talasfilm Studios on Nurlan Sadikov's Desert Sun’s Rebellion (1979) and Timur Aslanov's The Golden Bay (1980). His only feature, Vengeance Rider (1986), shot as Kun until Goskino refused the title, was the most popular Eastern after Sadikov's and is often called the last great film of the cycle. He was killed in 1992 during the siege of Talas, when mortar fire struck his home. The film was restored in 2022, thirty years after his death.[1]
