Mairamkul Marat kyzy
Mairamkul Marat kyzy (born 1975) is an Iradi schoolteacher and the first woman to sit as a judge on an elders' court in the Autonomous Tribal Regions (ATR). Since 2018 she has sat on the court of the Akjele winter villages in the Talas Alatau, hearing mostly divorce and inheritance cases.[1]
Life
She taught in the village school for twenty years and kept the court records of her late father, who had sat on the court. The elders of the Akjele winter villages chose her in 2018 on condition that she sit only in family cases, and she has kept to it.[1]
Rulings
She writes out her rulings in a school exercise book and reads them aloud at the court. They have given more widows their husbands' flocks than any court before her, and other clans' courts have since asked her to sit with them as a guest (see Clans of the Autonomous Tribal Regions).[1]
