Madeniet crossing
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
The Madeniet crossing (Iradi: Madeniet chek ara ötkölü) is a crossing on Irad's frontier with Kazakhstan about 4 kilometers south-south-east of the village of Madeniet, in the Karatau planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions (ATR), at about 43°09′N 68°58′E, on a district road from the foothill villages into Kazakhstan's Turkistan Region.[1] A post of the El-Choro Militias stands on the Iradi side and a Kazakh border post on the other. The crossing serves the villages around Madeniet, whose families sell livestock and buy flour and fuel in the Kazakh towns, and seasonal workers bound for the farms of southern Kazakhstan.[2]
