Kum-Say Fan
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
The Kum-Say Fan is an alluvial fan on the eastern rim of the Fergana Valley, in the Fergana Rim planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions, built of gravel and loess by the Kum-Say stream, a right-bank tributary of the Kara-Darya, where it leaves the foothills. It covers about 90 square kilometers.[1] Its lower part is irrigated by canals from the stream and grows cotton, maize and orchards. Allocation of the stream's water between farms on the fan and villages downstream in Uzbekistan is a recurring source of dispute.[2]
