Komuz and Kyl-kyak
Komuz and Kyl-kyak (Iradi: Komuz jana Kyl-kyak) is an Iradi-language program of traditional instrumental music on IradOne, shown on Wednesdays at 16:30. Each edition presents küü for the komuz and pieces for the bowed kyl-kyak, recorded in the studio in Talas or outdoors on the summer pastures (zhayloo), with the players introducing the story behind each piece.[1]
The program was launched in 2018, as IradOne increased its share of Iradi-language programs, and has been presented since then by the komuz player Jyrgalbek Bakirov, a graduate of the National Conservatory of Folk Music. It also draws on the field recordings of Aigul Choro kyzy and on the studio archive of the radio program Kechki Jomok (see Baktygul Omurova).[1] In October 2026 IradOne announced that it would broadcast the gala concert of the national komuz competition held in Talas for the 90th anniversary of Aigul Choro kyzy's birth.[2]
