Jangak-Bulak

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Jangak-Bulak ("walnut spring") is a village on the southern slopes of the Fergana Range, in the Fergana Rim planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions (ATR), west of Arslanbob. Its population is about 1,180 (2021 estimate).[1] The village lies inside the walnut-fruit forest. A grove of very old walnut trees beside a spring about 2 kilometers below the village is visited both by Muslim villagers, who tie rags to the branches, and by Syro-Iradi Christians, whose tradition links the grove to a medieval hermit; there is no historical evidence for the hermit.[2]
