From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Ishak Ashym uulu (1903–1942) was the commander of the Talas division, the Iradi cavalry formation of the Second World War, and was killed on the Don in July 1942.[1]

Career

A veteran of the Red cavalry in the war against the Basmachi (see Basmachi war in Irad), he led the division's herders, many of them on their own Chongtors, to the Don.[1]

Death

The division was mauled there in the summer of 1942 and disbanded. He was killed in July and has no known grave. The loss of the division's horses led to the army's demand for the Chongtor stallions in 1944 (see Tursunbai Ayyub uulu).[1]
