Hauzdy

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Hauzdy ("place of cisterns") is a hamlet in the Karatau foothills west of the Talas valley, in the Karatau planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions (ATR), beside the ruined caravanserai of Rabat-i Kamal. Its population is about 310 (2022 estimate).[1] The hamlet is named after the vaulted brick cisterns of the caravanserai, which stored water for travelers on the dry stretch of the old road; families still draw water from a stone-lined well beside them. Its households graze sheep on the surrounding slopes and guide the occasional visitor to the ruin.[2]
