Eskulap

Eskulap (Russian: Медицинский центр «Эскулап»; English: Eskulap Medical Centres) is the largest chain of private clinics in Irad. It was founded in Nurzhan in 2002 by Dr. Togzhan Abenova, a Kazakh radiologist at the city's Hospital No. 1, with one ultrasound machine bought on a bank loan. It has six centers, three in Nurzhan, two in Talas and one in Iyık Janyl, and about 260 staff, many of them state-hospital doctors working evening shifts.[1]
Its centers offer ultrasound, X-ray, ECG, endoscopy, laboratory tests, women's health, check-ups for employers and dentistry under the name Eskulap-Dent. They have no CT or MRI scanners, and patients who need one are sent to the Regional Hospital or to Almaty. Patients come for the absence of queues and of the informal payments common in state hospitals (see Health in Irad).[1]
