Dastgoh Creek
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Dastgoh Creek is a small canal in the Dastgoh District of Nurzhan, in the Irad Special Economic Zone. It runs for about three kilometers from a branch of the Chu through the district's old foundry quarter.[1] In the Soviet period it was diverted to drive the forge hammers of the district's workshops, which used its fall until electric hammers replaced them in the 1960s (see Dastgoh District).[2] Much of it now runs in culverts, and its water is polluted by oil and metal waste from the workshops along its banks.
